Unfortunately, wordpress is not very secure. Up until the latest release the file containing your database username and password (wp-config) was viewable to everyone. I couldn't believe it when I found this out! The new version at least allows you to move this file somewhere else than the website root folder, but that means some plugins and themes don't work any more. I agree.
